Please email me if your child needs caregiver support during class.
-Please have your children wear their ballet dress code under their jackets and warm ups and do not plan to change in the theater prior to class.
- Your child will need to use the bathroom without assistance for their own privacy. Please have your children use the bathroom prior to class to lessen use during class.
-At the end of our class time please wait for your children on Dekum Street. The instructor will dismiss them and escort them out. It will be important to have you there on-time.
Enter and Exit Protocols
Class expectations
To maintain an uninterrupted and creative learning environment we ask that students and parents adhere to the following guidelines:
Arrive to class on time ready to dance in recommended class attire and secured hair.
Remain in class for the full duration without a parent/guardian. Your child cannot be brought to class crying, please remain with your child and comfort them until they are ready to enter the class independently.
Able to follow simple instructions, listen to and apply direction. Example: stay around your dancing dot to dance, Do not leave the room without asking, sit for stretching and story time, please sit quietly during role call etc…
Use the restroom independently without adult help. Please practice with your child as getting dance wear on and off is challenging.
Class Observation
After many years of teaching experience, I find it is best for students if their parents/guardians are not observing class. Their focus and creative freedom improves in a quiet setting comprised of only the students and the teacher. Parents may observe or assist their child during class in special circumstances only and with prior teacher approval. We invite the parents to observe during scheduled class demonstrations. That being said, I welcome the opportunity to ease your child into an independent class experience with parent+teacher collaboration and support. If the child is crying and resisting joining class it is best to try at a later time. I do not encourage pushing a child when they need comfort from a parent and are not emotionally ready to be in an independent dance class environment.
Refund and Rescheduling policy
Refund Policy : all classes offered by Katarina Svetlova
A full refund will be given if requested 5 days prior to the start of the first class. Credit towards another class series will be given if a refund is requested within the 5 day period prior to the start of the first class. Once a series has begun I cannot offer any credits or refunds.
If class is cancelled due to weather, teacher illness, Theater scheduling conflict, or Covid safety restrictions, a make up class will be offered. Either in-person or via Zoom in place of any refunds. I cannot offer make up classes if a child misses classes due to travel or illness.
There is a chance we will have to reschedule a class at The Dekum street Theater due to an event. A make up class will be offered with ample notice at least 2 weeks.
